The objective of the UEFA EURO 2020 Volunteer Programme is to plan and implement a meaningful, high quality, efficient and memorable programme across all UEFA EURO 2020 venues. Between 700 and 900 volunteers will be required to assist with the delivery of the event’s wide ranging projects in each host city.

Project mission

The objective of the UEFA EURO 2020 Volunteer Programme is to plan and implement a meaningful, high quality, efficient and memorable programme across all UEFA EURO 2020 venues. Between 700 and 900 volunteers will be required to assist with the delivery of the event’s wide ranging projects in each host city.

The main mission of the LOS Volunteer Coordinator is to assist the LOS Volunteer Manager to oversee and deliver this important aspect of the event, ensuring that volunteers are efficiently sourced, on-boarded, trained to support the event organisation and perform the assigned duties well. For this special edition of the EURO, UEFA would like to integrate the population of Europe with this programme and also create some legacy for Europe. Furthermore, it is our ambition to create sustainability regarding volunteering within sport and to offer volunteers an unforgettable experience so that they transport a positive image of football, UEFA and the EURO Volunteer Programme.

Key responsibilities

Overall responsibility

  • Implementing the UEFA Volunteer Concept by delivering a lasting volunteer legacy for Europe within football.

Communication and cooperation

  • Supporting the LOS Volunteer Manager to ensure that the event’s requirements are delivered in full.

Promotion

  • Promoting the Volunteer Programme (internally and externally) through publicity strategies and PR campaigns to encourage large numbers of applications.

Recruitment and training

  • Coordinating the volunteers’ recruitment process (screening and interviews) and ensuring successful applicants are appropriately matched to roles which best suit their skills and experience.
  • Supporting the Build-up of a team of long term volunteers (recruitment, training and management).
  • Coordinating the distribution of volunteer agreements.
  • Coordinating the delivery of an effective training Programme, with appropriate support and contents to properly train the volunteers for their position, including the organization of a Kick-off event.

Event-time responsibilities

  • Providing assistance and support in relation to all volunteers’ transport needs.
  • Supporting the LOS Volunteer Manager to establish and communicate the shift schedule for all volunteers.
  • Coordinating the Volunteer Centre and providing inspiration, support and motivation to the volunteers.
  • Supporting the LOS Volunteer Manager to accredit all volunteers and overseeing the ordering and distribution of uniforms.
  • Monitoring and evaluating volunteers’ activities / working hours at all times.
  • Coordinating the organization of the Volunteer Closing Party, including distribution of gifts and certificates.
  • Helping the LOS Volunteer Manager to write a venue based debrief and to create a booklet as a souvenir.

Administration

  • Maintaining databases and undertaking all necessary administrative duties, which includes a regular communication with candidates and volunteers.

Profile of successful candidate

Must-have requirements

  • Previous experience of working for events.
  • Good understanding and experience of working with volunteers.
  • Team spirit.
  • Full professional proficiency in English (both oral and written) and in the local language of the venue.
  • IT Literate (Microsoft Office and database, experience in graphic design is a plus).
  • Previous experience of working with social media.
  • Be organized and efficient.
  • Good relationships with local network, especially among the Football Family.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Discretion and confidentiality.
  • Work to your best when under pressure.

Additional requirements

  • Experience of managing projects.
  • Have the ability in inspire and motivate people.
  • Have outstanding communication & presentation skills.
  • Confidence of presenting to large audience.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Any additional foreign language is an asset.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of football and the history of the UEFA EURO.
