EURO 2020 - Long-term Volunteer - Role Description

The objective of the UEFA EURO 2020 Volunteer Programme is to plan and implement a meaningful, high quality, efficient and memorable programme across all UEFA EURO 2020 venues. Around 1000 volunteers will be required to assist with the delivery of the event’s wide ranging projects in the venue of Puskás Ferenc Stadium.

Requested availability: during 17 months approximately 75 days per person (including week-ends)
Location: Hungarian Football Federation, on-site events, Puskás Ferenc Stadium
Specification: LOS Long-term Volunteers Budapest expected to be involved in the organisation of the Women’s Champions League Final in May 2019.

Project Mission

The objective of the UEFA EURO 2020 Volunteer Programme is to plan and implement a meaningful, high quality, efficient and memorable programme across all UEFA EURO 2020 venues. Around 1000 volunteers will be required to assist with the delivery of the event’s wide ranging projects in the venue of Puskás Ferenc Stadium.

For this special EURO edition, UEFA would like to leave a legacy for volunteering in Europe as well as to integrate the population of the host cities so that they transport a positive image of football across their country. Beyond an once-in-a-lifetime human experience, a role as Long-term volunteer for UEFA EURO 2020 offers a behind-the-scenes vision of the preparation of the second most watched football tournament in the world but also the possibility to develop some personal and professional skills.

The main mission of the Long-term Volunteers is to assist the LOS Volunteer Manager in the promotion and recruitment campaign, mainly by leading interviews of candidates and selecting the most suitable volunteers who will lately ensure high-quality services during the event. Furthermore they will provide assistance in the pre-event preparation phase, including important milestones like shifts scheduling and the organisation of training sessions and a kick-off for all volunteers. Eventually, they will have the opportunity to continue their mission in supporting the management of the other volunteers during the operational phase on-site.

Profile of a Successful Candidate

- Experience in volunteering locally and/or internationally
- Experience in recruiting through various channels
- IT literate (Microsoft Office and databases)
- Full professional proficiency in English (both oral and written) and in Hungarian
- Any additional foreign language is an asset
- Able to communicate with confidence and effectively with diverse people, notably during interviews
- Good relationships with local network, including the football family, universities or other structures
- Excellent team spirit and strong interpersonal skills
- Discretion and confidentiality
- Ability to multitask and to go the extra mile
- Demonstrate a good understanding of football and the history of the UEFA EURO

Key Responsibilities

Promotion Phase:
Raising the awareness about the Volunteer Programme during events and presentation meetings locally
Creating communication content about the Volunteer Programme for the volunteer’s newsletter and social media channels

Recruitment Phase:
Assisting with the screening of applicants and the scheduling of interviews
Conducting interviews with invited candidates and drafting consistent interview summaries
Creating communication content about the Volunteer Programme for the volunteer’s newsletter and social media channels

Preparation and Training Phase:
Undertaking administrative duties, including a regular communication with volunteers
Assisting with the communication of assignments and shift schedules to all volunteers
Supporting the organization of volunteers training sessions, including the Kick-off event
Creating communication content about the Volunteer Programme for the volunteer’s newsletter and social media channels

Operational Phase:
Helping to manage the Volunteer Centre, providing inspiration and motivation to the volunteers
Supporting the uniforms distribution and the volunteer’s presence control
Creating communication content about the Volunteer Programme for the volunteer’s newsletter and social media channels.
Contributing to the organization of the Volunteer Closing Party
