Fradi to take on MTK in Women's Hungarian Cup semi-final
The 2020 final could not be played due to the coronavirus pandemic, so the current holders are still the 2019 winners FTC-Telekom.
First contested in 1992, only four teams are fighting to lift the 2021 Women's Hungarian Cup: Astra, DVTK, MTK and defending champions FTC-Telekom. The semi-final draw was made on Tuesday at the MLSZ headquarters.
The semi-finals will be decided over a single match, the teams who were drawn first being the ones to play at home.
Semi-final draw:
DVTK v Astra-ALEF HFC-Anvil
FCT-Telekom v MTK Hungária FC
The semi-finals will be held on March 31st. The final will take place on May 5th.
Of the four teams, only the youngest club to date, DVTK, have not won the Cup before, Astra lifting the trophy once in 2012. MTK have won it four times (in 2005, 2010, 2013 and 2014) while in the most recent final in 2019, Fradi won their fifth Hungarian Cup to draw level with record-holders in that respect, László Korház SC.
