MTK stretch lead at top of NB II

A late goal from their top goalscorer László Lencse was enough to hand MTK Budapest a single-goal victory away at Cegléd and increase the club's lead over Kisvarda at the top of Hungary's second division to five points as the league enters its winter break.

Fradi's derby win puts them top at Christmas

The 19th round of the OTP Bank Liga saw Dénes Dibusz keep a clean sheet as Ferencváros defeated Budapest rivals Vasas away from home and with Videoton suffering a damaging loss in Szombathely, Thomas Doll's side have now replaced the team from Székesfehérvár at the top of the NB I table as the league enters its two-month winter break. Elsewhere, reigning champions Honvéd overcame Paks 1-0 and then sacked their Dutch coach Erik van der Meert with immediate effect, Attila Supka replacing him at the helm.

Ferencváros join Videoton at top of table

Ferencváros drew level on points at the top of the NBI league table after a fine 3-1 home win over leaders Videoton in round 18 of the OTP Bank Liga. Debrecen cemented third place with a single-goal victory against Honvéd and Újpest came from two goals down to draw with Balmazújváros in the penultimate round of autumn fixtures.
