Rossi: We deserved the victory
Hungary's head coach was less pleased with the first half of the 1-0 friendly victory against Slovenia, but was satisfied with the second period of 45 minutes.
After the final whistle, head coach Marco Rossi stated he was satisfied with the second half, except for the few minutes when we were camped in our own half towards the end.
"Slovenia played very well in the first half - they pressed intensely and we were quite slow to get the balls out of our half, so we barely found any opportunities to break out," Rossi admitted. "In order to create more chances, we should have changed our rhythm, accelerated, and looked to move the ball to wider, deeper areas in their half. This happened in the second half, so we began to play well and had two or three clear chances, so we could have scored earlier than we did. We are happy with the success - victories in friendly matches are also important, because they improve self-confidence and team morale. Overall, we deserved the victory, but if we had to highlight the mistakes in our performance, I'd say that we were stuck in front of our own goal towards the end. In light of our previous experiences, we must avoid such situations in the future, so we still have a lot to work on," Rossi concluded.
