Long-term Volunteers for EURO 2020 come on board
Preparation and organisation have started for EURO 2020 in Budapest, as well as for UEFA Women’s Champions League final, which is hosted by the Hungarian capital this May. The work of the management team is supported by long term volunteers (LTVs) who jumped on board last week. All together 14 LTVs have been selected who are going to play key roles of the EURO 2020 and UWCL 2019 final preparations too.
LTVs will mostly get involved in recruitment of further volunteers as they did so last weekend for the UWCL 2019 final on 18th May. We have received almost 300 applications for this event and more than 100 of them were interviewed for just under 100 places.
LTVs can expect a busy period after the UWCL 2019 final too because applications for EURO 2020 volunteer programme open soon. Long-term volunteers will execute promotional- and recruitment-related tasks until the tournament starts, while also supporting the Hungarian Football Federation during UEFA EURO 2020.
But why volunteer? LTVs shared their thoughts themselves.
"Sport has always been a key part of my life. I work with sport, but I enjoy watch a game on TV too. What makes sport exciting for me is that I can discover insights during volunteering. EURO 2020 and this long-term volunteer programme is a fantastic opportunity to participate in organising such great events and meet extraordinary locals and foreigners who share the same passion for football. I am expecting to gain valuable experiences, to have a superb team and lots of fun in a professional, yet friendly and sport-loving environment.” Lőrinc Pattanytús-Ábrahám
"I have volunteered in many sport events already and I think this is my chance to pass on the enthusiasm and love of sport to those who are still thinking of joining the volunteer programme. Loving football is a family tradition for me, thus I couldn’t miss this tournament which is co-hosted by Hungary.” Lilla Bódi
