FTC, Győr and Paks progress in Europe

Ferencváros made sure of European football this autumn by defeating Armenian side Noah in 2nd qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League this week, while Győr and Paks both advanced to the next qualifying stages of the UEFA Conference League. There was disappointment for Puskás Akadémia in the latter competition though, after they were knocked out by Aris Limassol of Cyprus.
There was a goal-laden 2nd leg for Ferencváros fans to enjoz at the Groupama Aréna on Wednesday when Robbie Keane's side followed up their 2-1 victory away in Armenia last week with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Armenian champians Noah. The score was 2-2 after just 22 minutes of the return leg, but Zachariassen settled some nerves with a penalty in the 52nd minute before each side scored another goal, Barnabád Varga swiftly cancelling out Grgic's 71-minute strike. The 6-4 aggregate success means Fradi move into the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League, where they'll have high hopes of progressing even further. However, even if Keane's team were to lose their next two ties in August, thereby potentially moving from the Champions League and then out of the Europa League, they'd still earn a place in the Conference League this coming autumn.
If that were to happen, they might be joined there by two other Hungarian clubs, Gyór and Paks, who moved to the next stage of the tournament by respectively defeating Pyunik of Armenia 4-3 on aggregate and NK Maribor of Slovenia 2-1 over two legs. These triumphs mean Gyór will face AIK of Sweden in the next round, while Paks will take on Ukrainian club Polissya Zhytomyr. There was one setback for Hungarian clubs though, Aris Limassol knocking out Puskás Akadémia of Europe 5-2 on aggregate, due in large part to two late goals in a well-contested second leg at the Pancho Aréna in Felcsút.
