Women's Champions League representative to be decided in June
May 28th will see the rearranged women's first division championship fixture between MTK and Diósgyőri VTK take place, the result of which will decide who participates in the women's best-of-3 championship finals to be played in June, the winner of which will represent Hungary in next season's UEFA Women's Champions League.
The MTK Hungária–DVTK match, originally from the 13th round of fixtures, is crucial in deciding which team will take on leaders Ferencváros in the league championship finals because both teams are level on 28 points, MTK just ahead in second place courtesy of goal difference. The match will be held at the New Nándor Hidegkuti stadium in Budapest at 20:00 CET on 28th May. The top two clubs in the final league table will play a best-of-three series of matches to decide which team will represent Hungary in the 2020/2021 UEFA Women's Champions League.
The first match will take place at 20:00 CET on 4th June the second fixture following exactly a week later at 20:00 CET on 11th June. If both teams win one of the first two games, a decisive third match will be played at 20:00 CET on 18th June. The M4 Sport channel will broadcast all remaining women's league matches live. Matches can be held under strict conditions to protect the health of participants and the public, including regular coronavirus testing.
Overall, the Hungarian Football Federation has already announced that the women's league will end without an official final result, so there will not be a champion, podium places or relegation. In the 2020/21 season, teams participating in the 2019/20 championship will again be eligible to participate in the SIMPLE Women's league.
