Women's Hungarian Futsal Cup heads to Szekszárd
Agenta Girls Szekszárd secured Women's Hungarian Futsal Cup glory by defeating holders Astra Bulls 4-3 in an exciting final in Szombathely on Sunday.
There were no surprises in Saturday's semi-finals, Astra overcoming Tolna-Mözs and Agenta recovering from two goals down to defeat second-division Budaörs. Last season's Cup winners Astra, led by János Dombó, were favourites going into the final, not just because they held the trophy, but also because they are currently placed third in the Hungarian league compared to Agenta who are bottom of the table.
Indeed, Astra dominated possession at the outset but it was the Szekszárd club which snatched the lead following a swift counter-attack. Astra turned it around, leading at half-time through goals from Dóra Dorner and Adrienn Beke, but Agenta were not intimidated and Gabriella Kiss capitalised on her team's better start to the second half by equalising and then edging her team in front in the 28th minute.
Beke's free-kick in the 37th minute restored parity but Agenta continued to be dangerous on the counter and it was via such a move that they scored the goal that won the Cup a few seconds before the end, Kiss passing for Boglárka Megyeri to make the scoreline 4-3 and ensure Szekszárd would win their first ever Women's Hungarian Futsal Cup.
