Changes in the men's national squad

Hungary have started preparations for their two forthcoming Nations League matches, versus the Netherlands at home in the Puskás Aréna at 20:45 CET on 11th October and away in Bosnia in Zencia three days later, while also calling up three replacements for injured players from Marco Rossi's original squad.

The three missing out for the two Nations League matches in October due to injury are Milos Kerkez, Krisztofer Horváth and Loic Nego, their replacement being Szabolcs Schön of Bolton, Pál Dárdai of Hertha BSC and DVTK's Dániel Gera, the latter for his first-ever call-up at full international level.

Ahead of Monday's training session, another potential debutant Kornél Szűcs, was joined at a press conference by the squad's second-oldest member, Attila Fiola:

"It's an indescribable feeling for me to be here in the national squad, so I'm very proud," Szůcs explained. "I have that desire but you also need good performances for it to come to reality. If I get a chance to play in either match, it would be one of the biggest steps in my career so far, but I wouldn't be disappointed if Marco Rossi wouldn't immediately give me my debut during my first call-up. The boys have been very welcoming and the group is superb, so there'll be no problems settling in."

Attila Fiola, preparing for his 60th national-team match, stated: "this summer's change of club was good for me and I was able to rest after the European Championship too, so I'm arriving at Telki in good condition."

"I've never played against the Netherlands but the Euro showed we're talking about a very strong team. We need to play confidently against every team in our home matches. We're not the favourites, but we'll give everything to make it difficult for the Dutch and to earn a point or three on Friday", Fiola concluded.

There were just new faces in the squad on Monday, but also on the coaching staff too, former captain Ádám Szalai appearing for the first time in his role as one of Marco Rossi's assistant coaches.

As usual, the first training session of the camp at Telki featured two groups, nine outfield players doing ball work on the centre pitch, while the rest underwent a regeneration session in the indoor gym.
