Hungary Women to face Scotland in Play-offs of European Qualifiers
The Hungary Women’s national team will take on Scotland in the first round of the UEFA Women’s European Qualifiers Play-offs as Alexandra Szarvas' squad continues its quest for a place at next year’s finals in Switzerland.
Our women's national team concluded its European Championship qualifying group in third position, therefore earning the right to enter the play-off stages of qualification. With a first- or second-placed team from the B League group stage guaranteed to be drawn to face Szarvas' team, a difficult opponent was expected and the draw didn't surprise, Scotland emerging as the first obstacle to Hungary's hopes of Euro qualification via the play-off route.
The first of leg of the contest will take place in Hungary on 25th October with the return match due to be held in Scotland four days later on 29th October. Should Hungary progress, they will do battle with the winner of another first-round clash between Finland and Montenegro, that second play-off round tie due to be played between 27th November and 3rd December 2024.
