Improved Women's U17s thrash Romania

Dorottya Schumi's team thrash Romania 7-3 in their second of two matches this week.

This second of two games went well for our U17 women, their team-play and excecution of goalscoring chances much-improved since their 3-1 win over the same opponents four days ago.

There were several changes to the starting lineup from that fixture, Noémi Török taking over in goal, Zsuzsanna Székely coming into the defence, Fanni Nagy and Csilla Savanya also finding a place in the eleven and Glória Siber providing a new face in attack.

Blanka Bokor handed Hungary the lead in the 24th minute and three minutes later, an opposing defender put through her own goal under pressure from Emőke Pápai. The advantage became three in the 36th minute thanks to Glória Siber and although Romania pulled a goal back soon after, it was Hungarian heads going into the break held high courtesy of Csilla Savanya's 43rd-minute strike to make the score 4-1 at half-time.

Siber notched her second goal two minutes into the second period and Pápai added another a minute later as Hungary extinguished any Romanian hopes of a comeback, before the latter also doubled her personal tally in scoring Hungary's seventh in the 55th minute. Romanians scored their second goal in the 61st minute and added another in the 79th minute to set the final result at 7-3.

"The odd change is still possible, but the core of our team is pretty much established. Just before the previous match, Fanni Nagy and Csilla Savanya had played a league match, so they didn't start that time. It's good that we'll play Bosnia soon as that match will be a good test, especially since they've just played against one of our Euro qualifying rivals, Bulgaria, in a development tournament. I hope that we can continue the work that we've started and that the girls will be ready to play for the national team. It's important to play again before the competitive matches because this will move the team forward", Hungary head coach Schumi said after the match.
