Jet-Sol Liga final: MTK look to preserve first-leg advantage

MTK Hungária will carry a 3-1 advantage into Thursday's Jet-Sol Liga Hungarian championship final 2nd leg at the Nándor Hidegkuti stadion after an ultimately comfortable victory at the home of opponents Ferencváros last week.

The reigning champions didn't have things all their own way though, Bulatovic pouncing on a weak pass from goalkeeper Réka Szőcs to slot the ball into an almost empty goal in just the third minute of the match. Fradi remained in the ascendancy until early in the second half but couldn't extend their lead and instead it was MTK who threatened more on the counter-attack, the equaliser finally coming when Diána Csányi produced a precise, 16-metre finish which flew into the bottom-left corner of the net.

The pattern of the match didn't alter though, Fradi dominating possession but not quite getting their game together in the final third, which allowed MTK to break quickly and often. This counter-attacking pressure told in the 84th minute when Némi Mátyás struck the woodwork and Júlia Németh followed up, striking the ball into the middle of the goal to hand the hosts a 2-1 lead. Naturally, Ferencváros pushed hard for a leveller but they were again undone on the counter, Csányi notching her second and her team's third of the evening to secure a 3-1 advantage at the halfway stage of the tie.

Thursday's second leg kicks off at 20:30 in the Nándor Hidegkuti stadium in Budapest and will be broadcast live on the M4 Sport television channel.

Jet-Sol Liga final, 1st leg:
Ferencváros 1-3 MTK Hungária (HT: 1-0)
Goalscorers: FTC: Bulatovic 3', MTK: Csányi 47', Mátyás 84', Csányi 92'.
