Marco Rossi: We couldn't put Albania under pressure

After the 1-0 World Cup qualifying defeat away to Albania, head coach Marco Rossi said the opponents' physical superiority caused his team a lot of difficulties.

"We were aware before the match how strong our opponent is. Albania have players in very good physical condition; they are strong, fast, and they caused us a lot of difficulties," Rossi admitted. "We tried to play in such a way that we could possess the ball and take advantage of the open areas. When we did, we were dangerous, but it wasn’t enough to score. We should have put more pressure on the opponent, but unfortunately we didn’t always find the right timing to apply pressure, and when they came at us, they created opportunities. I've said several times that fighting for World Cup participation is more of a dream, but now we have made it even harder for ourselves to realise that dream. This defeat is not the end of the world, as there are five more matches left, and we'll be playing at home against Albania and away in Poland. I hope we can be luckier in these next matches".
