Rossi: Every game important when representing Hungary
Hungary's head coach was joined by defender Attila Szalai at a press conference held before the Poland vs Hungary World Cup qualifier in Warsaw. Rossi says it can’t be allowed to be an advantage for our opponent that we no longer have a chance to reach the tournament finals next year.
Rossi confirmed he knew Poland would take the World Cup qualifier very seriously, and would play like Hungary did in their last match. "The two teams have similar intentions for Monday's game. Every time we go out on the pitch, we are proud to represent the country, so we have to do everything we can to win even if the meeting has nothing really at stake. I don't think it'll be an advantage for Poland that we no longer have a chance to qualify".
Regarding Dominik Szoboszlai, Rossi said the Leipzig playmaker would be in the forward line again and that he expected him to play as well as last time. He also responded to a journalist's suggestion that he is still an unbeaten coach against Paulo Sousa.
"The Portuguese head coach of Poland is an excellent coach, and has been successful throughout his career wherever he's gone. I have been a coach in Hungary for ten years and I can say that my results have improved, but it is also true that, we weren't successful earlier in the qualifiers. I don't think we should be compared. It's true that I've not lost a match against him (Sousa) so far, the two of us having met twice during my time leading Honvéd and the Hungarian national team, and so far I have won one and drawn one against him. I hope I don't ruin that tomorrow".
Attila Szalai also answered questions from journalists in Warsaw:
"Although we can't get to the World Cup anymore, the team are very motivated about every match, so we're treating tomorrow's game against Poland as a very important fixture. Of course, we want to play well and achieve a good result in the final match of these qualifiers," said the Fenerbahce defender.
"As for me, I feel great. Luckily, since the season started, there have been a lot of matches which has helped me a lot in my career to be well prepared both physically and mentally".
The last men’s match of the year will start at the National Stadium in Warsaw at 20:45 on Monday and will be led by Portuguese referee Tiago Martins. His assistants will be Pedro Almeida, Luis Campos and João Pinheiro (VAR).
