Rossi: There's no tragedy, but we must learn from our mistakes
Hungary Men conceded a last-minute goal to lose 2-1 to Republic of Ireland in the first of two warm-up matches before the European Championship. After the match, national-team head coach Marco Rossi emphasised his side had had three times as many chances as the Irish, so he wouldn't even have been satisfied with a draw, but after the defeat, the most important thing is to learn from the mistakes.
"Of course, we're not happy that we ended the match with a defeat, because we wouldn't even have been happy with the draw, but there was no tragedy," said Marco Rossi. "We had more chances than Republic of Ireland, but we also made mistakes and one of these mistakes resulted in the home team's first goal. We quickly equalised and dominated the match, creating three times more chances than the opponent, but they scored two goals from their two chances overall and won the match - sometimes things like that happens in football. Nobody likes to lose, but mistakes are part of the game. However, we have to learn from the last minute, and that in the case of a draw, we simply cannot allow the opponent to lead a counter attack like they did. We've not allowed ourselves to make a mistake like this before and I hope we won't again in the future."
