UEFA Women's Champions League: Barcelona and Lyon to contest final

The 2019 UEFA Women's Champions League final will see FC Barcelona take on Olympique Lyon after the two teams edged past Bayern Munich and Chelsea respectively. More than 12,000 tickets have already been sold for the match which will take place in Budapest's Ferencváros stadium on 18th May.

Just as they had in the first leg, Barcelona defeated German champions Bayern by a single goal, their 2-0 aggregate win propelling Spain's best women's team to their first ever Champions League final.

A club-record 12,764 supporters were present in Barcelona's Mini Estadiba as Spain international Mariona Caldentey slotted in a penalty in first-half added time after Bayern defender Gina Lewandowski fouled Lieke Martens in the penalty area.

There was no change to the scoreline in the second half despite the hosts being forced to play with only 10 players for the final 20 minutes once Kheira Haraoui was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

Barcelona have been joined in the final by Lyon, who boast Hungarian-born Germany international star Dzsenifer Marozsán in their ranks. The French team and reigning Champions League holders overcame Chelsea 2-1 at home in the first leg and took the lead in the 17th minute of the away leg too, thanks to Eugénie Le Sommer. Chelsea's South Korean player Ji So Yun equalised on the day with a well-taken free-kick but Lyon held out to secure their passage to Budapest where they will contest a record eighth UEFA Women's Champions League final.

Tickets for the showpiece event can be purchased on the meccsjegy.mlsz.hu webpage or in person at TEX ticket offices.
