Men's national team prepare for double-header

The Hungary men's national team has been together since Monday as they recover from recent club exertions, have their conditions examined by medical staff and get ready for two international friendlies in four days later this week, Kazakhstan providing the first opponent on 23rd March followed by Scotland on 27th March, both contests taking place in the Groupama Aréna in Budapest.

Every domestically-based Hungary squad member had arrived at the national team's training base in Telki by Sunday evening but for the foreign-based players it would be Monday afternoon or even Tuesday before they would be in place and considered ready to take part in training sessions. For example, Ádám Pintér's German club Greuther Fürth had a league match on Monday evening and Richárd Guzmics would only return from China on Tuesday. Head coach Gergoe Leekens held a discussion with his squad on Sunday evening where he introduced the itinerary and outlined what he was expecting from the players.

"Although these two matches before us are friendlies, both are especially important in terms of preparing for September's compeititive matches", Hungary's head coach declared to mlsz.hu. "Our most important task was for us first to know who was in what kind of condition upon arrival to Telki. We started our programme on Monday with individual training sessions before the squad joined together for a group session on Monday evening when we also began to put across our tactical plans to the players and to share useful information in regard to a first opponent Kazakhstan. From Wednesday the sole focus of our attention will be Friday's match when we'll basically go through tactical elements of the game and call our players' attention to the most relevant details which we've collected during video analysis".

Aside from Tamás Kádár who is struggling with an injury, everyone arrived at Telki injury-free with Leekends complimenting his medical staff after Kádár decided he1d rather continue his recovery with them rather than stay at home with club Dynamo Kiev.
