OTP Bank Liga: Fehérvár confirmed as league runners-up

Újpest's last-gasp equaliser at home to third-placed Mezőkövesd confirmed that MOL Fehérvár in second spot cannot now be caught with just four rounds remaining of the 2019/2020 season. Elsewhere, Paks eased to a routine 3-0 victory over already-relegated Kaposvár and Puskás Akadémia remain in the race for the final UEFA Europa League qualification spot after winning away at Diósgyőr.

Paks' three points were never in doubt once Haraszti had followed János Hahn's 21st-minute penalty with the the first of his two goals just after the half-hour mark. Another Paks penalty in the 69th minute provided the opportunity for Haraszti to double his personal tally and that he did with aplomb to cap a routine home success and boost his side's battle against relegation. For the first 70 minutes of this match, both sides had fully Hungarian lineups.

At the other end of the table, Mezőkövesd are chasing European qualification but have suffered a severe loss of form since losing the Hungarian Cup final to Honvéd early this month. Budu Zivzivadze should have put his side ahead late in the first half of their match against Újpest but he contrived to miss the goal from less than two metres. Teammate László Pekár seemed to have spared his blushes when the striker put the visitors ahead in the 66th minute with a close-range rebound, but Újpest salvaged a home draw in the 95th minute, Márk Koszta heading in a pinpoint cross to extend new coach Pedrag Rogan's unbeaten run since taking over on 1st June to four games.

Mezőkövesd are now only in third spot on goal difference after Puskás Akadémia joined them on 47 points courtesy of a 2-1 triumph in Miskolc. The visitors had fallen behind to Ivanovski's third-minute opener but László Deutch restored parity on 21 minutes and David Vanecek converted a swift counter-attack just after the half-time break to edge his team in front. Puskás Akadémia saw out the rest of the match to seal what could be a cricual victory in the race fo a Europa League spot.
