Euro 2020 tickets to be available for as little as 30 Euros!

UEFA has announced in Budapest the ticket prices for the 2020 European Championship. Tickets go on sale on 12th June at the official UEFA ticketing website.

At the invitation of Sándor Csányi, UEFA President Alexander Čeferin paid a visit to the new Puskás Aréna – the only new stadium being built for Euro 2020 – the day after Lyon won the Women’s Champions League in Budapest.

After the meeting, UEFA announced the ticket prices for Euro 2020, which will be co-hosted b twelve countries. The new Puskás Aréna will play host to four matches next summer; three group matches and one last-sixteen match.

– “This is the tournament, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the European Championship, will be special in every respect. The fact that the European Championship is coming to Hungary is an opportunity that Hungarian fans cannot miss” said UEFA Events CEO Martin Kallen at the press conference on the announcement of the ticket prices.

Fans will be able to apply for tickets on June 12 at https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/ticketing/, and it is already worth registering there in order to receive first-hand information about the sale of tickets.

– “The Puskás Aréna will have a capacity of 68,000 and four matches will be played in Budapest, meaning a total of roughly 270,000 tickets. In the first phase of ticket sales we will sell half of the tickets and will concentrate on Hungarian fans, so that most tickets are sold to locals. We encourage everyone to register now to increase their chances of getting a ticket. Should Hungary qualify for the Euros, then the tickets reserved for fans of the participating teams will also become available. When designing the categories, we sought simplicity. Ticket prices were divided into two groups according to the average salary of the organising country. Budapest went to the second group along with Baku and Bucharest” – added Philippe Margraff, Head of Revenue Operations at UEFA.

There are three ticket categories to choose from for UEFA EURO 2020, and the organising cities are divided into two groups according to purchasing power and average income of the population. Amsterdam, Bilbao, Copenhagen, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Munich, Rome and St. Petersburg ended up in Group A, and Budapest, Baku and Bucharest in Group B.

Grouping is valid for the whole tournament, so tickets for the quarter-final in Baku will be cheaper than the quarter-finals in Munich, Rome or St. Petersburg.

Fans can choose from two types of tickets: Individual tickets to a particular match, to a particular stadium; While with 'follow my team' tickets – which will be available from December 2019 – fans can take part in their favourite team's match in a knock-out phase, regardless of the venue. If the given team does not reach the knock-out stages, the full ticket price for these matches will be refunded to fans.

Fans can buy up to 4 tickets for a match, the tickets will include the customers’ names, and tickets will be checked upon entry to the stadiums to ensure that only fans entitled to do so may enter. UEFA is also selling numerous tickets to disabled fans. These tickets will belong to the lowest price category irrespective of where they are in the stadium. In addition, those accompanying a disabled supporter shall be ensured a free ticket.

For fans, there will be a record number of three million tickets, which means they will have a greater chance than ever to be present at the matches. The slogan “LIVE IT. FOR REAL” encourages fans to experience the atmosphere of the matches in the stadiums. Almost two and a half million tickets are available for fans of the qualifying nations and the general public – this alone is more than the total number of tickets sold at UEFA EURO 2016.

Ten lucky supporters – winners of the MLSZ Supporter’s Club #VisitPuskás game – were among the first to get a stadium tour. What they didn’t know was that Zoltán Gera would be sitting beside them on the tribune and that two legendary ex-Portugal players – Nuno Gomes and Luis Figo – would also turn up. The three UEFA EURO 2020 ambassadors then handed over the winners’ surprise category 1 tickets, ensuring that these lucky fans will be certain to return to the stadium for one of the EURO 2020 matches.

Szabolcs Deutsch and his son Botond were among the lucky winners.

Thousands have registered, so it never occurred to us that we could win. Then, we thought we were getting a stadium tour. Then it was just surprise after surprise. We got to be there at the press conference where they announced the EURO 2020 ticket prices to the whole of Europe. We could go out onto the tribune, we received a surprise gift, and then Zoltán Gera turned up! He sat down with us, and not long after, even more football stars arrived. Later, we found out that we had received two category 1 tickets for the first group-stage match in Budapest!” the happy father – who joined the Supporter’s Club with his son three years ago and regularly attends Hungary national team matches – told mlsz.hu. “Botond was able to see Figo play at the Madrid All-Stars match, but he’s more a fan of the Hungarian players”, Szabolcs added.

It’s always good to make someone smile. I’m delighted that I could make the supporters happy. I saw that they were completely surprised. All ten of them have received tickets before me!” said EURO 2020 Budapest Ambassador Zoltán Gera jokingly. “I was also surprised to be here alongside Nuno Gomes and Luis Figo. They were world greats, but they were very friendly and polite. They like the new stadium; as Portuguese they said that it reminded them of the Benfica stadium. We also talked about the outside of the stadium keeping alive the memory of the former stadium. Now that the seats have started to be installed it’s becoming clearer how the stadium will look once finished. It’s going to be beautiful once the pitch is laid!” he continued.
