Europa League: Courageous victory for Fradi in France

Ferencváros won their second consecutive Europa League group game by a single goal at the home of AS Monaco on Thursday evening, Bálint Vécsei's 80th-minute winner consolidating his club's position at the top of Group H.

Roared on by a vociferous away support, Ferencváros dominated the opening exchanges of this second group fixture of the current campaign, Tokmac Nguen seeing his 20th-minute goal ruled out by VAR for offside. Hosts Monaco belatedly came into the game and forced two good saves from Fradi goalkeeper Dénes Dibusz before half-time.

The second half was also well contested but it was the visitors who found the vital breakthrough in the 80th minute, good work from Frank Boli and Adama Traore setting up the arriving Vécsei for a sweetly-struck shot which was deflected past a stranded goalkeeper and over the Monaco goalline by a defender. The Hungarian champions held on for a second win in a row which keeps them top of Group H on six points. Their next match is away in Serbia against Crvena Zvezda on 6th October.
