Ferencváros claim goalless draw in Lithuania

Ferencváros will look forward to next week's Europa League qualifying play-off second leg after emerging with a goalless draw from the first match away against FK Suduva of Lithuania on Thursday night.
The Lithuanian champions started the better of the two teams but Ferencváros soon settled down into a match which became very even, albeit the visitors just shaded possession. Serhiy Rebrov's side confidently repelled Suduva's attacks but lacked creativity further forward, so it was no surprise that neither team broke the deadlock by half-time. Roles were reversed after the interval with the hosts withstanding pressure from Fradi, especially in the final quarter of an hour, and thanks to their organised defence the Suduva goalkeeper didn't have a testing save to make.
The tie will therefore be decided in the Groupama Aréna in Budapest next Thursday in a second leg which kicks off at 20:00 CET. At stake is a place in the Europa League group stage, a point in the competition which Ferencváros haven't reached since 2004/05, when it was known as the UEFA Cup.
