Ferencváros will play its own game against Dinamo

Ferencváros are preparing for their second 2020/21 Champions League group-stage match and their first at home, Dinamo Kiev due to be their opponents in the Groupama Arena tonight.

After a 25-year absence, Ferencváros returned to the Champions League group stages last week at the home of one of the world’s strongest teams, Barcelona. The Catalans showed their class but Hungary's reigning league champions now have their sights set on greater achievements in their home clash against Dinamo Kiev on Wednesday.

"Before the match in Barcelona, I said that after 25 years the team has returned to the Champions League and we will of course have to adapt to our opponent in the Camp Nou. Here, we'll also face a strong opponent but after stepping out onto our home pitch, we have to play our own game. Our expectations are the same as before - we have to be competitive, but I won't talk about points. Naturally we want to win, but this is a top-quality series (of matches) so we need maximum concentration", Fradi head coach Serhiy Rebrov stated.

Tomorrow's match, at which it will be mandatory for all fans to wear a protective mask, will be special for Rebrov because he will face his former team where he won championship titles as both a player and a head coach.

"Of course, such a meeting is not without emotion, but we are professionals; this does not influence the preparation. I like playing against such strong teams and I'm glad that Dinamo Kiev has returned to the group stages after a three-year absence," Rebrov concluded.

The Ukrainian team coached by the vastly experienced Mircea Lucescu will be missing several key players for the match, including goalkeeper Heorhij Buscsan and the defender Vitalij Mikolenko.
