Fradi to continue in Europa League but Győr bow out

Ferencváros will be Hungary's only representative in European club competition for the rest of this season after they qualified for the Europa League group phase and Győr were knocked out of the Conference League at the play-off stage.
Despite an impressive and hard-fought 3-2 victory away in Baku, Ferencváros exited the Champions League in the play-off round in a 5-4 aggregate loss to Qarabag of Azerbaijan, mainly due to a damaging 3-1 home defeat in the first leg. Robbie Keane's side thus move into the Europa League, where they will entertain Rangers (Scotland), Viktoria Plzen (Czechia), PFC Ludogorec (Bulgaria) and Panathinaikos (Greece) at home and travel to face Red Bull Salzburg (Austria), Fenerbahce (Turkey), Nottingham Forest (England) and KRC Genk (Belgium) away. Their first fixture is at home against Viktoria Plzen at 21:00 CET on Thursday 25th September.
ETO FC Győr were hoping to join Fradi in competitive European action this action after a thrilling 2-1 home victory at home against Rapid Wien in their Conference League play-off first leg. However, the away leg proved to be a different proposition, the Austrian club triumphing 2-0 to condemn Győr to a purely domestic fixture list for the remainder of this season.
