Hungary U16 Boys play out draw with Italy

This year's final training camp finished with a second match against the Italian U16 national team in Telki on Thursday 28th November. The two teams played out a tightly-contested game on Tuesday but the Italians were more clinical, eventually sealing a 2-0 lead. In the first half of Thursday's rematch, the Hungarian team were again impressive though, this time taking the lead when, after a corner, Renátó Ulbert beat an opposing defender and fired the ball into the far corner of the net. The home side could have doubled the lead immediately after their first goal but it was spurned and although both teams had opportunities before the break, the result didn't change.

Italy dominated much of the second half, forcing Hungary back into defence as they tried to stave off the visitors' attacks via their solid defence. Their Italian opponents curved a lot of balls behind their defenders and eventually found an equalising goal after a corner to level the score at 1-1.

"I'm pleased with our performance in the first half, although overall we played better in Tuesday's meeting. Italy have done very well in recent months - they have an incredibly good team and I am happy we have played against them. We have to play the way we did in the first half. I think the team has started positively and I hope we can maintain it in the future”, Hungary head coach Attila Belvon said after the match.
