Kecskemét promoted to OTP Bank Liga

Kecskemét had long harboured hopes of promotion to Hungary's top tier this season after an impressive and consistent Merkantil Liga campaign. Although they weren't able to keep pace with champions Vasas, István Szabó's team were always in contention for the second promotion spot and achieved this aim in the penultimate game of the 2021/22 season with a 3-1 away victory against Szombathely Haladás, top goalscorer Dániel Lukács notching his 21st goal in 35 league matches before Barna Tóth and Gábor Szalai made sure of the points and with them, promotion.
