Men's Under 18s to host Ireland twice this week
The squad coached by Márton Oross will host their Irish counterparts in friendly matches on Tuesday and Thursday at the BVSC Stadium in Budapest.
The age group born in 2004 didn’t get a chance to compete in the European Championship qualifiers a year ago, last year’s competitive matches falling victim to restrctions imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Players have had to wait another year for their first competitive matches but in the meantime, as part of their preparations, they will play two international matches against Republic of Ireland, firstly on Tuesday at 18.00 and then on Thursday at 11.00am in BVSC's stadium in the Zugló district of Budapest.
"We're already preparing for the U19 Euro qualifiers in the next year, so I'd like to get a complete picture of every eligible footballer in the months ahead. At this age, there are a lot of changes in the lives of players, some already having stepped up to adult professional football, while others are trying to progress in their age group. I'd like to give as many players as possible the opportunity to prove themselves", head coach Márton Oross told mlsz.hu.
