MOL Hungarian Cup: Just four remain
The competition has reached its semi-final stage with the draw throwing up two intriguing ties.
Újpest were the first team to book their place in the last four when they squeezed past fellow OTP Liga side Mezőkövesd 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time on Tuesday evening. The following afternoon, MOL Fehérvár joined them courtesy of a routine 2-0 win over Budafoki MTE, as did Kisvárda thanks to a 6-1 defeat of a ZTE team weakened due to illness. The last quarter-final early that evening saw MTK become the second capital-city team to reach this year's semi-finals when they overcame the only remaining second-tier club in the competition, Debreceni VSC, by a scoreine of 2-1 in Eastern Hungary.
The draw subsequently pitted MTK against MOL Fehérvár and Újpest against the only team of the four never to have won the competition, Kisvárda. The two ties will be decided over a single match on 14th April with MTK and Kisvárda due to be the two match hosts.
