Record 19.3 million ticket requests made for UEFA EURO 2020

By the end of 12th July, football fans had applied for an unprecedented 19.3 million tickets to UEFA EURO 2020, a figure which easily outstrips the number of applications made to see any other previous edition of the UEFA European Championships.

• UEFA EURO 2020 will be the biggest EURO of all time with a total of three million tickets being sold for matches in 12 cities
• Between 12th June and 12th July 2019, one-and-a-half million tickets were made available
• During the ticket sales period, 19.3 million applications were registered; almost twice the number registered at the same ticket sales stage of UEFA EURO 2016 (11 million)

In view of the high demand, UEFA asks those fans who will receive a ticket to pay them in time so they secure their allocated tickets to see matches, all of which will use the LIVE IT. FOR REAL slogan. Fans who do not pay the tickets within the given deadline will miss the opportunity to be at the biggest EURO event of all time, as the public will have little chance of obtaining a ticket in the future.

What are the most important pieces of information?

• 1.9 million ticket applications have been made to see the EURO 2020 final on 12th July at Wembley Stadium, a figure which is 22 times the stadium's capacity. Unsurprisingly, of the 51 UEFA EURO matches in 2020, the final is the most popular in terms of ticket applications.
• Nearly 50 percent (43,500) of tickets for the final are available at this stage of ticket sales, which means there are approximately 44 applications for each ticket.
• In this ticket sales phase, the demand for the final marks was double that of the UEFA EURO 2016 final at the Stade de France Stadium in Paris.
• There are more than 540,000 ticket applicants to the UEFA EURO 2020 opening ceremony at Rome's Olympic Stadium, approximately eight times the stadium capacity.
• After the semi-finals and finals, group games in Munich and Amsterdam were in greatest demand.
• On average, fans applied for 14 tickets in at least two different locations.

This also shows how positive the public is towards the tournament, a unique event which will see matches organised in 12 cities across Europe.

• Fans demanded tickets from 213 countries, which is obviously a sign of UEFA EURO 2020's global reach.
• The largest number of ticket requests from a venue's own country was for St Petersburg, with 81 percent of ticket requests being made locally.
• In addition to applications from within host countries, demand for tickets was also high in neighbouring countries, particularly in Poland, France and Austria.

What is the next step?

Tickets will be awarded after a random, fair draw for all venues by the end of July 2019. Fans will be notified of the latest results by mid-August 2019.

Check your emails!

Successful fans will be notified by email of the results of the draw and the payment deadline will be approximately ten days after the email is sent.

When will the next ticket sales period be?

The next ticket sales period begins in December 2019 (after the tournament draw) when fans will be awarded tickets through the national football associations participating in the tournament. However, at this point, fans should be eligible for tickets must comply with the criteria of their national football associations.

The Fans First Programme

If the winners of the prize draw do not pay their tickets within the deadline, their tickets are resold. Subsequently, thanks to UEFA's Fans First program
Those fans will receive a notice - and at the same time - a ticket buyer who is the first tickets were unsuccessful at the ticket sales stage.
