Rossi: Almost typical of us to qualify in this style

"To be honest, I don't even remember how many great chances we created after our first goal, but I do know we missed them all. We did everything we could to achieve our goal, but we made it difficult for ourselves and did some silly things in the match. It is almost typical that we cannot achieve anything without having to suffer for it," Rossi admitted after the final whistle on Thursday evening.

"We dominated the match, created a lot of opportunities and only allowed the opponent a total of three shots, from which came a goal and a penalty. We weren't smart or mature, because we were unable to maintain our advantage and our man advantage; we didn't read the match well. In the end, we were lucky, the god of football ultimately decided that we deserve to qualify (for Euro 2024) automatically. I'm very happy we've achieved this, but the way we did it was very stressful... full of tension... so it's hard for me to enjoy the success. Despite this, we've done amazingly well (to reach the Euros) automatically with one game still to go and for the third time in a row too. On Sunday, against Montenegro, we want to celebrate not only qualification but also group victory (Hungary must equal or better Serbia's result at home to Bulgaria on the same day)".
