Rossi: Last qualifiers important for future
Prior to Friday’s fixture against San Marino, Hungary's head coach spoke about his squad, the match and the future.
"Due to our own mistakes, we've lost the opportunity to qualify for the World Cup, so we have to prepare for the future now. This aim is also reflected in our squad for the last two qualifiers. I've called up some players, primarily Botond Balogh and Tamás Kiss this time, because I want to count on them in the future. I am confident that their selection will be a motivation to other young players who will now perform even better for their clubs", Rossi stated at Thursday's pre-match press conference ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifier against San Marino.
"We have specific ideas on how to build the team of the future. We strive to fill the positions with ideal candidates where there still might be a shortage of quality players, but we are not just looking for young players, but talented ones of any age. The next time we'll have warm-up matches will be in March, and from those we'll be able to draw conclusions ahead of the next Nations League campaign, when we'll again face top opponents. With that in mind, we also need to hone our game against San Marino, which promises to be an easier match, but form on paper can only come to pass if we focus from the beginning to the end and stick to the agreed tactics", Rossi added.
Regarding Friday's game, journalists in attendance were also given the chance to put their questions to defender Ádám Lang:
"Our clear goal is to beat the opponent with a convincing and dominant performance. To do this, we've discussed what we need to do, but the most important thing is that everyone stays focused. Recently, a very good group has come together, and the national team is currently made up of great individuals, both personally and professionally. We want to show this on the pitch too and we want to close the World Cup qualifiers in a positive way", the Omonia Nicosia defender commented.
