Rossi: We played with the required self-confidence

Following Saturday's victory against Armenia, Marco Rossi's Hungarian men's national team scored two goals away against Portugal, a nation ranked fifth in the world, thanks to which they've returned home with a brilliant point to aid their quest for World Cup qualification.

"I'd like to congratulate the team, primarily for the performance, but of course for the resulttoo. Overall, a draw doesn’t change much in the group standings, but it can have a positive effect on our self-confidence...," Rossi stated after the match. "... a positive effect on our self-confidence and our belief in each other. The whole match showed that the team has the necessary self-confidence, because not only was the beginning of the match great, but we also put Portugal under pressure in the last ten minutes. We got the best out of ourselves and luck was also needed to snatch a point against such a strong team. They hit the post twice, it’s true, but so did we once. If they'd scored a goal at that point though, we’d be talking about a completely different match, which is why I mentioned that luck is also necessary. Our team has been working ard since the start of the qualifiers in September and we've tried everything we can, while also discovering new players who can help us in the future. I'm happy with the performance and the result, but in the end, everything will be decided in November."
