Rossi: We put on an assured display
Hungary's head coach admitted after the match that the most pleasing aspect about Monday night's 2-0 victory away against Bosnia-Herzegovina was that's clear his side have rediscovered the team spirit which had become synonymous with them in recent times.
"It's not easy in this type of stadium, against this type of opponent to play on this kind of pitch, so we knew it would be difficult at the start of the match and it's true we suffered for the first ten minutes," Rossi explained after the win. "After this though, we settled into the match, started to build (some momentum) and had our chances, on numerous occasions playing in Barni Varga or Roland Sallai in promising attacks, only for their and their attacking teammate Szoboszlai's efforts to be in vain until the opening goal. We scored the second goal near the start of the second half and from then on, our defence remained solid enough to preserve our advantage all the way to the final whistle. In summary, today's performance was reassuring for the future, because this match showed the team has returned to its roots; the old team spirit is back and everyone worked hard for each other. We are the type of national team which fights for every ball and this way is able to gain results and win matches. The group's current standing shows that we're in with a chance of reaching the play-offs, but it's difficult to imagine that we'll be competing with the Netherlands for second spot in the group (in the final round of fixtures)."
