Sándor Csányi and Alexander Čeferin meet at the Puskás Aréna

The leadership of UEFA has been in Budapest over the weekend for a meeting with the Presidents and General Secretaries of the 55 National Association members of UEFA, as well as for the Women’s Champions League final. MLSZ President Sándor Csányi took advantage of their presence in the city to meet the European administrative body’s president Alexander Čeferin along with state secretary Balázs Fürjes on Sunday morning. The meeting took place at the new Puskás Aréna, which is currently under construction and will be the only completely brand-new stadium of the twelve venues being used at Euro 2020.

As part of the informal visit, they visited those facilities at the stadium which have already been completed, while a large European Championship trophy-shaped balloon in the middle of the pitch drew attention to the fact that in just over a year, the European Championship will be in Budapest. After the visit, Čeferin said that he had nothing but praise for the organisation at Saturday’s Women’s Champions League final, that he is very satisfied with how the construction of the new Puskás Aréna is coming along and that he keenly awaits the new stadium’s inauguration in November.
