UEFA announces further postponements due to COVID-19 pandemic
A video conference was held on Wednesday with representatives of the national associations, which has resulted in the conclusion that UEFA may host national matches which had previously been postponed to June in the autumn. The initial aim for European football is to finish the continent's domestic seasons.
European Football's governing body (UEFA) has released information following discussions with the leaders of member federations, which can be read here in English: https://www.uefa.com/insideuefa/news/newsid=2641230.html
Due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the remaining European Championship play-off qualifiers scheduled for June are likely to take place later in the autumn, a move which shows how UEFA is trying to provide enough time and opportunity to complete domestic league seasons around Europe. The Hungarian Football Federation is ready with plans for the completion of its various national championships, and in all cases it will take into account and fully adhere to the epidemiological recommendations.
UEFA has also informed member federations that it will not hold all of its scheduled youth tournaments this season, deleting the men's U17 and women's U19 Euros, but only postponing the men's U19 andwomen's U17 tournaments because they are also FIFA World Cup qualifying competitions.
