UEFA Euro 2020 ticket ballot made

The ballot for UEFA Euro 2020 tickets has been conducted earlier than expected on 6 August, with all those applying for tickets being informed via email by UEFA as to whether they have been successful or not.

UEFA received over 19 million applications for the 1.5 million tickets available in the first round of ticket sales, which unfortunately means that not everyone who applied will have been happy on Tuesday evening when UEFA sent out emails containing the result of the ticket ballot.

All is not lost for those unsuccessful this time round however, as more tickets will be available in the run-up to next summer’s tournament, albeit in much smaller numbers than in the first phase which has now ended.

Those who have been lucky with their applications have until 18 August to pay for their tickets, which they can do so in the manner laid out in their confirmation email received from UEFA. Should they fail to pay for their tickets by this date, they will lose the right to those tickets.

Unpaid tickets will go to the Fans First programme, where they will be purchased by fans who have not been successful in the current ballot. UEFA will provide further details about the programme in due course, so you should regularly check the email address (and its junk folder) given when registering.

Additional tickets will be made available in December 2019 to supporters of nations which have qualified for EURO 2020, but this time in much lower numbers than in the current phase of ticket sales. If a team qualifies for EURO 2020 via the Nations League play-offs, their fans will be able to buy tickets in April 2020.

Fans who have already received tickets and pay for them by 18 August but are unable to attend the given match(es) will have the opportunity to re-sell their tickets on the official UEFA platform for the same price that they bought them for. Thus, even more tickets will become available for purchase. Details of this phase will be provided by UEFA in spring 2020.
