Fans can return to the stands but precautions remain in place

Every fourth seat can be occupied by spectators at football matches from May 28th onwards, but in order to protect the health of the players, the strict regulations and mandatory tests applicable to them will remain in force. Clubs responsible for organising matches must ensure that a certain distance is maintained between each spectator in the stands in the interests of continued protection from the virus pandemic.

If the home club decides to take the opportunity, spectators may be admitted to their football matches again from 28th May, subject to certain restrictions and precautions, as laid down by the government. Last week, MLSZ became one of the first national associations in Europe to resume the domestic football season when, on May 23rd, the men's competitions which involve qualification for next season's European club tournaments returned to action, albeit behind closed doors. Tonight, women's football will resume with a rearranged league match, again behind closed doors, after which will follow a best-of 3 play-off series between the top two clubs in June to determine which one will represent Hungary in the 2020/21 UEFA Women's Champions League.

The sport zone, that is, the immediate surroundings of the football pitch, is subject to the same strict regulations as in the past week, i.e. only people whose participation is essential to the match and who have recently undergone a recent negative coronavirus test may enter this area.

In regard to the tribunes, the regulations are the same as normal for the domestic clubs. An important element of this is that only one in four seats can be occupied. The required distance must be maintained in all communal areas (before, during and after the match, including at payment counters, entrances, food vendors and toilets). On Thursday, the MLSZ issued a recommendation to the clubs asking that the admission of spectators be made as convenient as possible in compliance with the applicable health-protection regulations, but each club is free to decide on the conditions of how that is executed.

Meanwhile, the MLSZ, the organiser of the 2020 Hungarian Cup final, will soon take advantage of the opportunity to start selling tickets - exclusively online - for next Wednesday's showpiece event between Budapest Honvéd and Mezőkövesd.
