Marco Rossi receives touchline ban from UEFA

Hungary men's head coach Marco Rossi has been banned from the touchline for one match with a further one-match suspended ban handed down by UEFA's disciplinary committee after he was adjudged to have transgressed the rules regarding a head coach's behaviour during the recent Greece vs Hungary Nations League match in Athens. The Italian-born coach will be absent from the Hungary dugout for the forthcming fixture against Estonia.

UEFA had originally banned Rossi for three matches but at the MLSZ's request the disciplinary committee gave Rossi a personal hearing at which he explained his actions. The original suspension was then downgraded to a one-match ban with another match suspended and only due to come into force in the event of a future transgression in the next
twelve months.

Mr Rossi had earlier apologised for what happened and repeated this on the day of the hearing, stating: "it was never my intention to behave disrespectfully in front of the officials. My emotions and passion can sometimes spill over during a match and this is not a good thing. I would like to change this in the future".

Mr Rossi will continue to lead Hungary's preparations for the two matches, firstly versus Estonia at home at 20:45 on Thursday 15th November - which he will watch from afar - and then again at home versus Finland three days later at 20:45 on Sunday 18th November, a match for which he will return to Hungary's bench.

"UEFA's decision won't affect our preparations. I trust my staff totally so during next Thursday's match they will do everything they can in my absence in order for the team to bring about the best result possible. At the same time, I ask our fans to come in as great a number as possible so that in my absence they can cheer on the team as loudly
as possible", Rossi concluded.
