Marco Rossi: Tactically, Bulgaria didn't show us anything new

Hungary's head coach watched his team's EURO 2020 play-off semi-final opponents Bulgaria take on Belarus in Sofia last week, the home team playing in their usual system but not with the usual line-up, which is perhaps why they suffered a 1-0 defeat.

"Since the match took place on an unofficial matchday, only two players from the Bulgarian national team's regular starting eleven were in the lineup", Marco Rossi told mlsz.hu. "Therefore, we were unable to observe many players from their starting lineup this time around. At the same time, they played in the usual formation of 4-2-3-1, so from a tactical point of view we saw what we'd seen in previous matches, Georgi Dermendzhiev opting not to experiment with new tactics this time. It seems clear, then, that my Bulgarian counterpart wants to get the most out of this formation with his team, so I'm sure we will have a hard time against them on 26th March".

Rossi is expected to name his squad for the Bulgaria match on 16th March, six days before the squad meets in Telki. If Hungary triumph in Sofia, they will play against either Iceland or Romania in the Puskás Arena on 31st March for a spot at the UEFA 2020 European Championship.
