Marco Rossi: There is a lot of work ahead of us

As today's draw confirmed, Hungary will travel to Bulgaria for their Euro 2020 qualifying play-off semi-final with the reward for victory being a final against Iceland or Romania in the Puskás Aréna five days later. Two wins would mean Rossi's squad would secure their place at the 2020 European Championship, which will be partly hosted by Budapest.

"It's not a question that we could have been given a much more difficult draw in the semi-final but at the same time we are not in a position to say that it will be an easy task", Rossi commented after the draw. "If only because we'll be playing in difficult conditions in a stadium which will be full of opponent fans. Having said that, Bugaria are not above us in the world rankings but this doesn't mean that it will be an easy match either. The good thing is that if we win this match, we'd be playing at home when we'd play against an even stronger team. In all ways, this needs to give us even more motivation.

A lot of work is ahead of us. Firstly, it is most important that our best players recover and are in good form come March. We need to continually be present during- and monitor their recuparation and then observe them and their performances in person, while also forming a strategy to take on our opponents. The Bulgarian national team already has a new head coach so we need to find out more about the tactics he employs, but we also need to know everything about Iceland and Romania so that we are ready for a match against either of them", Rossi added.
