Martin Ádám: It's not worth dwelling on Euro loss to Germany

Hungary's Wednesday training session was preceded by a press conference featuring two players who played for their country in this summer's European Championship. Martin Ádám and Bendegúz Bolla both changed clubs (and the countries thereof) in the summer, both believing they've made wise decisions and that they're rich with good experiences as they approach the first international matches of the autumn.

"The season has started well for me and I hope it'll continue to be successful at the start of this new international campaign," said Ádám, who is now plying his trade at club level in Greece. "The Nations League will be excellent preparation for the World Cup qualifiers and I'm counting on these matches versus Germany and Bosnia being real tests of strength - I don't believe the latter opponent here in our home will be any easier a match than the one away against Germany. It's not worth assessing our chances in the fixture in Düsseldorf based on recent games against the same team, because this will be a completely different match to the ones against them in the Euros or in the previous Nations League."

Twenty times-capped international Bolla, meanwhile has arrived at Telki as a Rapid Wien player; he trusts he'll be able to add to his tally of Hungary appearances in the coming week.

"I must continually fight for my place in the national squad, because there's lots of competition in my position, but as before, I'll be giving everything now to ensure that on the basis of my work in training, I'll be given opportunities in the forthcoming matches.

These Nations League fixtures can help us finetune and brush up our performances as we try to learn from our mistakes seen in the European Championship ahead of the World Cup qualifiers which begin next spring. Two very difficult matches await us, but we'd like to get the maximum out of them," Bolla explained.

The squad spent Thursday training and undergoing tests in Telki before travelling to Germany on Friday, the location for Saturday's opening Nations League fixture.
