Rossi: We have to play our best game to take points
Hungary Men's head coach told those present at the pre-match press conference held at the venue of the European qualifier that he'd be satisfied with even just one point in Thursday's match against Serbia in Belgrade.
Hungary's squad members trained on Wednesday morning at the MLSZ training centre in Telki, but by the same afternoon they were on the pitch at the venue of Thursday evening's European qualifier, the Rajko Mitic Stadium in Belgrade.
At the press conference held in the stadium, Hungary head coach Marco Rossi stated that their hosts could beat any team in the world at home, so ahead of the game, he'd consider a draw a good result.
"We have a tactical plan for the match which we we'd like to be able to implement, but let's not forget that the opponent will be Serbia and everyone knows what a strong team we'll play against" Rossi admitted. "Ahead of the game, I'd say we'd be satisfied with the one point, but I can't prepare a team for a draw; I don't think any coach can. We're here to score a point or points by virtue of our own performance. An important match awaits us, but not a decisive clash. On paper, Serbia are stronger than us and based on the balance of strengh they will win the group, but we can be second. I would be satisfied with that, because our goal is not to finish ahead of Serbia, but rather to qualify for the European Championship. It's quite certain that we will have to play our best game here to gain points".
Loic Nego, who plays for French club Le Havre, was also on hand to give his opinions.
"I don't know how much of a role I'll have in the match, but I am motivated just like the other members of the squad: I want to play and prove myself in the national team. Serbia are very strong and they have great players, but we also have good footballers and we want to return home to Hungary with a smile", Nego concluded.
Thursday's fixture starts at 20:45 CET and the match referee will be Spain's Juan Martínez Munuera.
