Double boost for Rossi as squad prepares for Russia test

Barnabás Bese and Bendegúz Bolla have passed health tests and are now also available for the match against Russia on Sunday. Returning from Sivas in Turkey on Friday morning, the men’s national team successfully negotiated their latest coronavirus tests and completed training on Friday and Saturday.

It was 4 o'clock in the morning when Marco Rossi's Hungary squad arrived back at their Budapest hotel, which is of course quarantined and continues to follow all health regulations in order to isolate from coronavirus pandemic. By 10am that morning, all staff and players passed their first virus test after returning home and this was followed by the second test on Saturday morning. On Friday morning, another piece of good news arrived for the team, Rosii now being able to count on Barnabás Bese and Bolla Bendegúz for Sunday's match.

"During the mandatory examination prescribed by UEFA, these two players had showed discrepancies that required a more serious examination" Hungary team doctor Dr Ádám Szilas told mlsz.hu. "That's why we decided to send Barnabás and Bendegúz for further investigation. Luckily, the result was reassuring so they can now prepare with the squad for Sunday’s match".

The team trained in two groups on Friday afternoon, the players who'd played the match in Turkey taking part in a regenerative session, while the others completed a full training session at the Illovszky Rudolf Stadion (epidemiological regulations allow sports teams to hold training sessions). Attila Fiola was the only one who did not train, having suffered a minor injury in Sivas.
