Europa League: Fradi bow out in Portugal

Having won 2-0 at home in the first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 tie versus Sporting Braga of Portugal, Ferencváros suffered a 4-0 away defeat on Wednesday, thereby losing the tie 4-2 on aggregate and bowing out of the competition before the quarter-final stage.

Ferencváros entered this second leg with a commanding two-goal cushion from the first-leg victory in Budapest last week, but that advantage barely lasted a quarter of an hour as their Portuguese opponents successful sought to overcome the deficit. Parity was restored by the 16th minute and Braga took control of the tie with another goal before half-time. They secured a 4-2 aggregate victory with another strike in the second half and will now play the winner of the Round of 16 tie between Panathinaikos of Greece and Real Betis of Spain in the quarter-finals.
