Europa League: Fradi remain unbeaten after overcoming Rangers

The visitors from Scotland took the lead just before the half-hour mark, but Bence Ötvös's deflected equaliser restored parity in the sixth minute of added time before the break and Barnabás Varga's perfectly-timed header in the 73rd minute sealed a 2-1 victory, Ferencváros's fourth in six league-phase matches and one which secures their passage through to European knockout football next spring.

Robbie Keane's Ferencváros side are now secure in the knowledge that they'll be playing European football in early 2026 after a hard-fought victory over Rangers in the Groupama Aréna on Thursday evening.

Miovski had given Rangers an unexpected lead in the 27th minute but Keane's men didn't let that setback deter them and equalised just before half-time through Bence Ötvös. More chances came and went thereafter before Varga headed Fradi in front for the first time and they preserved that advantage until the end, in no small part thanks to goalkeeper Dávid Gróf's superb save from Iapos's excellent shot from the edge of the penalty area.

This latest triumph means Keane's men have four wins and two draws from their six Europa League matches in the league phase so far this season, a tally of 14 points meaning they are already guaranteed to finish in the top 24 and thus at least enter a play-off to qualify for the Round of 16 in spring time. They next entertain Panathinaikos on 22nd January 2026.
