Europa League: Fradi stretch unbeaten record with home draw

Yusuf's second-half penalty nearly gave the hosts another famous European victory, but Zarury's late equaliser for Panathinaikos meant Fradi had to settle for one point in their penultimate league phase fixture.

Robbie Keane's Hungarian champions didn't see much of the ball early on, but soon their counter-attacking style came to the fore and Levi and Raemakers came close to opening the scoring before the half-time break.

Both sides showed attacking intent as the second-half took shape, home goalkeeper Dávid Gróf saving spectacularly from Palmer-Browne before Fradi took the lead, a handball in the Panathinaikos penalty area giving Yusuf the chance to step up and slam the ball into the bottom-left corner of the net from the spot just after the hour mark.

Joseph had the chance to double Ferencváros's lead and seal their fifth win of the league phase in the last ten minutes, but he spurned that opportunity and would soon live to regret it when Zarury netted a superb equalising goal. That ultimately forced a draw, which puts Fradi on 15 points from seven matches and means a win away against English Premier League club Nottingham Forest next Thursday would secure a top-eight place and safe passage through to the knockout stages of the Europa League. Depending on other results, a draw or even a loss could still be sufficient for automatic qualification too, but either way, they are guaranteed at least a Round-of-16 play-off spot.

Ferencvárosi TC 1–1 Panathinaikos (GRE) (HT: 0–0)
Goals: FTC: Yusuf (62, pen), PAN: Zarury (86)
