Ferencváros crowned Hungarian champions for sixth year in a row
Ferencváros have won their sixth consecutive Hungarian league title and 35th overall after a goalless draw at home to Kisvárda ensured that second-placed Paks, 5-0 losers to Puskás Akadémia earlier on Saturday, won't be able to overhaul the runaway NB I leaders with just four rounds left of the current season.
Dejan Stankovic's team had led the championship for much of the winter season but started the spring season in second place, level on points with surprise leaders Paks.
From then on though, 'Fradi's performances went up a gear, their unbeaten run now stretching to 16 matches, while Paks, whose squad is comprised only of Hungarian players, began to experience mixed results, a situation which has culminated in Hungary's most successful club holding an unassailable 15-point lead with just four matches remaining.
This sixth title in the past six seasons is now Ferencváros's best such run of league success, their previous record being five consecutive titles between 1909 and 1913.
