Fradi win eternal derby to extend lead at top to eight points

League leaders Ferencváros defeated old rivals MTK 3-1 at the Új Hidegkuti Stadion while second-placed Vidi were held to a draw at Paks. Elsewhere, Haladás came from behind to shock Újpest and Debrecen and Diósgyőr both won at home.

Ferencváros took an early lead in the Örökrangadó at the Új Hidegkuti Stadion, Roland Varga chesting down a cross from the right from Ivan Petrjak before firing low past Artem Kicsak from the edge of the box on the turn. The second goal came just before the half-hour mark, Davide Lanzafame tucking home from five yards out after being set up by Gergő Lovrencsics. The three points were all-but secure for Serhiy Rebrov”s side by the 42nd minute, Lovrencsics and Petrjak combining well down the right flank, and Petrjak’s inviting cross being finished at the back post by Lanzafame. Ferencváros understandably took their foot of the gas somewhat in the second half, Dániel Gera scoring a consolation for MTK in the 71st minute, but the league-leaders seldom looked in any danger of shipping further goals and ran out comfortable 3-1 winners.

Second-placed Vidi found the going rather tougher away to mid-table Paks, falling behind in the 22nd minute as János Hahn fired home at the second attempt following a sweeping counter-attack. Marko Nikolić’s team levelled ten minutes before the break, Stopira heading home a corner with Vidi’s first clear goalscoring opportunity, but they found themselves 2-1 behind at half-time, Norbert Könyves getting to the ball ahead of Loïc Nego and Ádám Kovácsik to tuck the ball home. Marko Šćepović brought Vidi level for a second time in the 56th minute, firing home after Paks had failed to clear a parried Nego shot, but although having the better of the second-half, failed to breach the Paks rearguard further, having to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Haladás, winners on the road last week for the first time all season, were two goals down at home to Újpest at half-time, Soma Novothny scoring both, but three goals in five second-half minutes from two substitutes brought the Szombathely club their second win in as many weeks. First, Funsho Bamgboye – who had only been on the pitch for two minutes – capitalised on indecision from Filip Pajović and Kire Ristevski following a Gábor Király kick-out, next, Márió Németh fired home from just outside the box, and then Bamgboye blasted home a cross from Galin Ivanov to keep Hali’s feint hopes of escaping relegation just about alive.

Debrecen leapfrogged Újpest into third place – level on 27 points but ahead on number of matches won – with right-back Ákos Kinyik scoring the only goal of the game with a low shot from the edge of the box following 37th minute corner. Honvéd lie a point behind courtesy of their 1-1 draw on the road at struggling Kisvárda, Danilo levelling in first-half injury-time after Gheorghe Grozav’s earlier opener.

Kisvárda sit second-bottom on 25 points, nine ahead of bottom-club Haladás, and two behind Puskás Akadémia and Diósgyőr who are on 27 following their encounter in Miskolc, which the home side won 1-0 courtesy of a second-half strike from Kosovan midfielder Florent Hasani.
