Marco Rossi: This was our best first half under me

Hungary Men eased to a 3-0 half-time lead against Bulgaria with an irresistible attacking display in the first 45 minutes, then confidently maintained their advantage throughout the second half to secure three points in their first 2024 European Championship qualifier.

After the match, Marco Rossi spoke of his satisfaction with his team's performance:

"Maybe we've produced the best first half since I've been in charge of the national team. Previously we'd played our best first half so far in Turkey in 2020, but then we didn't score a goal, whereas here we scored three. We started the match very well and Dominik Szoboszlai played his best game so far for the national team. It's a big responsibility to wear the captin's armband, but he has grown up very quickly in this regard. However, he was not the only one who played outstandingly and several members of the team also stood out with such performances with which you can win matches. It was not easy to maintain concentration in the second half and at 3-0 we lost a bit of focus; we made some unforced errors and two or three times we took risks which could have been avoided. I'd like to congratulate the team and the staff, and I also congratulate our kit manager László Hegyesi on the occasion of his 100th match with the men's full national team".
