MOL Hungarian Cup: Paks to take on Fradi in final

Ferencváros stayed on course for another Hungarian league and cup double by overcoming second-tier ETO FC of Győr 4-1 in yesterday's second semi-final, after Paks claimed their first ever final appearance by easing past holders Újpest 3-0 on Tuesday.

Neither Paks nor Ferencváros were troubled by their opponents in the last four of this season's MOL Hungarian Cup, both top-flight teams leading at half-time and winning by eventual three-goal margins against Újpest and ETO respectively. Paks went ahead in the 27th minute through a Diaby own goal and doubled their lead thanks to József Windecker's 66th-minute strike before Kutrumpis' red card made Újpest's task to recover even harder. Sajban sealed Paks' first ever appearance in Hungarian domestic football's showpiece event with a third goal in the 86th minute.

A day later, Ferencváros made short work of NB II club ETO FC, Franck Boli putting the reigning Hungarian league champions ahead in the 23rd minute, an advantage Zachiarassen extended via a free-kick just after the half-hour mark. Boli scored his second in the 52nd minute to put 23-time Hungarian Cup winners Fradi within sight of the final, but Bacsa reduced the deficit in the 76th minute. Lipták's own goal in the dying minutes though sealed Ferencváros' progression.

The final will take place in the Puskás Aréna in Budapest on Wednesday 11th May, ticket information for prospective spectators due to soon be forthcoming on the MLSZ website.
